Hello! My name is Katie Grigg and I am running for Mayor of Zorra Township in the upcoming municipal election. I was first elected in 2018, and have served nearly 8 years as the Ward 2 Councillor, 5 of which as the Deputy Mayor. During this time I have gained experience through a variety of board and committee appointments including: Rural Oxford Economic Development Corporation (ROEDC) Beachville District Museum, Top Aggregate Producing Municipalities of Ontario (TAPMO), Zorra Multi-Use Courts Committee. My experience in local governance alongside my passion for our beautiful corner of Oxford County drives my mission to build, maintain and protect communities where we can all participate fully.
Outside of my municipal involvement, I have been an active member of the community where I live with my family and raise my children. I was the president of Calithumpian for 5 years, co-chair of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary Parent Council in Thamesford, coached with Thamesford Minor Soccer Association, and a member of the Zorra Community Policing Committee. I was raised in a home where we were taught that you should help out when and where you are able, and so that is what I have done. The best part is, all of these experiences have given me a lot of insight into how communities work and thrive. I also walk my dogs here, attend local events and learn about the history of our area, jog and cycle our rural and urban roads, visit the library with my littles, and experience so much of Zorra first hand. What I have learned is that our differences make us stronger, but we also have more in common than we sometimes realize. Connecting with others often presents opportunity. I believe in this so deeply. I lead as I live. With a lot of passion and dedication.
